Home Air Purifiers for Happy Living

Airtight insulated homes can give you better conditioning but your home will starve from fresh air. This happens when the stale and polluted air keeps on circulating in and out of the duct system. It spreads harmful airborne contaminants in the entire home. They are in the form of moulds, fungi, bacteria, virus, pollen, mites and animal dander and if inhaled can effect the family’s health.

If you spend 90% of your time indoor and breathing 2,700 gallons of stale air, you may end up felling sick. It is important to keep in mind that air pollution can take place inside homes too. This can aggravate asthma, respiratory related problems, and allergies etc taking tool on your life.

These airborne suspended particles can be drawn into the return air system and can enter the ducts. These germs and survive well in these parts and enter the heating and cooling system, they gets dispersed into the entire room.

Another way of getting fresh circulation of air is by keeping the windows open daily for 15-20 mins. But the utility levels get increased making it a costly affair. Changing furnace filters can arrest the problem to a certain extent. But most of the filters are not that efficient in capturing all the contaminant and purifying clean air. Here are some ways by which you can crate a healthy and germ free atmosphere for your home.

  1. Air purifiers remove and kill the airborne germs and allergens. By installing them at right places you can put a check on these airborne particles.
  2. Humidifiers are good way to add moisture in the air, they help in arresting irritation in nose and throats, sinuses, and itchiness in skin etc. a good humidifier helps in saving energy bills.
  3. Fresh air ventilators are another solution to keep the fresh air circulating. The ultraviolet germicidal light hinders the growth of bacteria on the indoor coil.
  4. An air purifier is meant to draw air and filter the unwanted particles making the air germ free and odorless. Numerous types of filters are used in cleaning the air. Filters are added with activated carbon to detain large particles. The next level is the HEPA filter, it is meant to absorb small particles. Others have natural organic filter that neutralizes impulsive compounds. There is another kind of filters that are electrostatic or ion filters but they are unpopular as they attract unnecessary particles by static electricity. The latest one is the hybrid one that purifies with ozone and is known as ozone filter.
  5. The air purifiers that are more common are the HEPA certified ones. The next steps in this kind of filters are the ULPA (ultra-HEPA) filters considered to remove close to 100% of particles.

The air conditions vary on account of the locality, weather, materials, age of the building, and vegetation near by. Thus it is impossible to predict the effect of home air purifier. Before buying one look at the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR). This is meant to determine how many cubic feet of air is cleared of airborne particles. The higher the CADR rating, less time it will need to purify the air.
